Recently, good news came from the RTU Project Department of Sichuan Gaoda Technology Co., Ltd. A batch of remote control unit intelligent RTU systems were installed and debugged by the department for Yanchang Petroleum, one of the top ten oil fields in China. The Gaoda engineers adhered to the Yan'an style of Yanchang Petroleum and worked overtime in the wind and snow to complete the construction tasks of the bidding stage; it played an active role in continuously promoting safe, stable production and reducing consumption for the oilfield, filling the gaps in the strong chain and continuing cooperation in the later period, and was praised by the owner!

The main task of GAODA Technology in this stage of debugging is to extend the capacity construction project of the northern section of the central area of Yan'an Gas Field of Petroleum, and to install and debug some remote terminal unit (RTU) systems in the oil and gas well field in the ground engineering well area.

RTU is a small data acquisition and control device with CPU as the core. It has the characteristics of flexible programming, complete functions, strong communication ability, convenient maintenance, strong self-diagnosis ability, adaptability to harsh environmental conditions (working temperature: -40℃~+70℃; storage temperature: -55℃~+85℃; relative humidity: 5%~95% without condensation), and high reliability.

1. System functions:
All well sites in this project use RTU for data collection and monitoring; RTU communicates with the SCADA system dispatch control center. In the event of an abnormal situation, the remote electric needle valve can be closed by the dispatch control center. RTU is used to monitor the well site remote control line cut-off valve and is directly monitored and directed by the dispatch control center.
RTU has the following functions:
(a) Data acquisition and processing function (can receive analog and switch signals); (b) Analog and switch signal output; (c) Mathematical operation function; (d) Logical operation function; (e) Logical control function; (f) Self-diagnosis function; (g) Fault alarm; (h) Execute instructions issued by the dispatching control center and send real-time data to the control center; (i) Communicate with third parties.
2. Main features of system hardware and software:
The RTU network port can communicate with the dispatching control center and the station under jurisdiction. The hardware structure is expandable. The program and data stored in the memory will not be lost when the external power fails. The data can be exchanged with the third-party computer monitoring system or intelligent instrument (such as solar power system) through the programmable serial communication port. The low power consumption is not more than 10w, and it can adapt to the fluctuation of the external power supply within 18~32VDC. It has the functions of remote and local compilation, modification, and testing of programs. The input and output signal terminals are connected to the field instrument equipment, and the data can be read through a notebook. The field signal is connected to an independent IO card. The communication protocol adopts Modbus TCP/IP, IEC 60870-5-104 or CIP communication protocol;

Detailed descriptions are given for RTU, power supply, CPU module (analog, digital) input and output, serial port server, surge protection, signal surge protection, power consumption, equipment list and spare parts.
During the construction period, the construction workers of GAODA Technology Engineering overcame extremely harsh environmental factors such as sudden drastic temperature drop (nearly minus 30℃) and biting cold wind, the owner and project partners' lack of understanding of the principles of the GAODA RTU system, icy and muddy construction roads, breakdown of transport vehicles, and deserted areas with no shelter. Finally, through their own active coordination and hard work, they overcame numerous difficulties and completed the project!
